Parish of Cameron
February 28, 2006
The Cameron Parish School Board met in special called session on this date to consider the items listed herein. The following members were present: Loston McEvers, Dwayne Sanner, Dot Theriot, Pat Howerton and Mrs. Rachel Abadie. Absent: Patricia Morris and Marvin Trahan.
Mr. Loston McEvers, Board President, called the special meeting to order at 3:00 P.M.
On motion of Mr. Howerton, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board approved advertisement for school food service cafeteria equipment for 2006-2007 at Johnson Bayou School and South Cameron High School.
On motion of Mr. Howerton, seconded by Mr. Sanner, the Board received a report from Mr. M.B. Slocum regarding insurance, and a report from the superintendent regarding advertising for and receiving vita from attorneys with expertise in insurance claims. (copy of notice attached)
On motion of Ms. Abadie, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board received a report from the superintendent on restoration of facilities with action to be addressed in the regular meeting on March 13, 2006. (copy attached)
On motion of Mr. Howerton, seconded by Mr. Sanner, the Board received a report regarding temporary buildings with consideration of these data to be addressed at the meeting on March 13, 2006.
On motion of Mr. Howerton, seconded by Mrs. Abadie, the Board approved advertising for furnishings for the new facility at Grand Lake. (Note: Refresher for the Board since budget items from Bond fund had been approved at the beginning of the project.)
On motion of Mr. Sanner, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board approved to advise items for the 2006 – 2007 instructional programs and extra-curriula program which included calendar, instructional day, technology, and restoration of destroyed items and program needs directly impacting students at Hackberry, Johnson Bayou, South Cameron and Grand Lake.
On motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mrs. Abadie, the Board approved personnel items for the 2006 – 2007 school session and the following personnel report. (copy attached)

RESIGNATIONS
Ms. Sandra Hession Teacher, South Cameron High School, effective at the close of the day June 2, 2006, i.e., close of the school session, in order for her to retire after 34 years of service to Cameron Parish Schools.
Ms. Mindy Jo Dye Teacher, Cameron Elementary School, effective immediately with processing an insurance coverage closure date, and Ms. Dye expresses appreciation for the opportunity to serve students in Cameron Parish.
Ms. Gernine Mailhes Teacher, Johnson Bayou High School, effective at the close of the day February 24, 2006 due to health reasons.
LEAVE WITHOUT PAY
Ms. Brandy Jinks Food Service Tech, Johnson Bayou High School, effective at the close of the day February 17, 2006 through June 2, 2006 with plans to return upon the school’s relocation to Johnson Bayou School.
On motion of Mr. Sanner, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board voted to adjourn.
