Parish of Cameron

The Cameron Parish School Board met in special called session on this date to consider the items listed herein. The following members were present: Loston McEvers, Dwayne Sanner, Dot Theriot, Rachel Abadie, and Patricia Morris. Absent members were: Pat Howerton and Marvin Trahan.
Mr. Loston McEvers, Board President, called the special meeting to order at 4:00 P.M.
On motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mrs. Abadie, the Board approved the agenda.
On motion of Mr. Sanner, seconded by Mrs. Abadie, the Board approved the bid in the amount of $122,940.90 for Furniture and Fixtures for the newly constructed elementary complex at Grand Lake School wherein the cost will be paid from the District 4 Bond Issue, and the Board approved the bid in the amount of $232,051.00 for Furniture and Fixtures for the recently purchased portable classrooms and buildings to return an instructional program for students enrolled in Grades PK-12 at the South Cameron High School site, i.e., students previously enrolled in Cameron Elementary, South Cameron Elementary, and South Cameron High School, wherein the cost will be paid from non-bond issue sources. Note: The grand total for all furniture and fixtures for these projects was $354,991.90, and the cost of the furniture and fixtures for Grand Lake are not FEMA eligible since these items are not replacement units. In contrast, the furniture and fixtures for the South Cameron site are replacement items for storm destroyed units at Cameron Elementary, South Cameron Elementary, and South Cameron High.
On motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mrs. Abadie, the Board approved the base bid for the restoration of the football field area and some of the accessories related thereto that were destroyed by Hurricane Rita.

On motion of Mr. Sanner, seconded by Mrs. Morris, the Board approved the personnel report as follows:

Lorene Tanner, Hackberry School, Recommend payment of up to 25 days of accrued and and unused sick leave pursuant to the provisions of the Louisiana Revised Statutes;
Resignation
Brandi Jinks, Johnson Bayou School, acknowledge her resignation effective May 8, 2006 pursuant to her request as a Cafeteria Tech;
Margaret E. Saltzman, Grand Lake School, acknowledge her resignation effective June 1, 2006 pursuant to her request as a Cafeteria Tech;
Eddie Michalko, Hackberry High School, acknowledge his resignation, effective at the close of the session and his responsibilities therein, to take a position in another parish;
Ryan Nash, South Cameron High School, acknowledge his resignation, effective at the close of the session and his responsibilities therein, to take a position in another parish;
Patsy Fletcher, Grand Lake School, acknowledge her resignation on the occasion of her retirement effective June 3, 2006;
Steve Racca, Hackberry High School, acknowledge his resignation on the occasion of his retirement effective June 30, 2006;
Transfer
Chrystal Grooms, Recommend transferring her from South Cameron High School to Johnson Bayou for the 2006 – 2007 school session;
Angie Little, Recommend transferring her from South Cameron High School to Hackberry High School for the 2006 – 2007 school session.
On motion of Ms. Morris, seconded by Mrs. Abadie, the Board voted to adjourn.
