Parish of Cameron
September 26, 2006
The Cameron Parish School Board met in special called session on this date to consider the items listed herein. The following members were present: Loston McEvers, Dwayne Sanner, Dot Theriot, Rachel Abadie, Patricia Morris, Pat Howerton, and Marvin Trahan.
Mr. Loston McEvers, Board President, called the special meeting to order at 4:00 P.M.
On motion of Mr. Howerton, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board approved the Canopy Project at the South Cameron site (between classroom buildings, between classroom building “B” and serving building, and between serving building and cooking building).
On motion of Mr. Trahan, seconded by Mr. Sanner, the Board approved the Canopy and Concrete Walk Project at the South Cameron site (Entry ramp from building “C” to bus pickup/delivery).
On motion of Ms. Morris, seconded by Mrs. Abadie, the Board approved the Classroom Canopy Project at the Johnson Bayou site (entrance to classrooms).
On motion of Mrs. Abadie, seconded by Mr. Howerton, the Board approved the canopy and ramp project for the temporary office, but the item will be held in abeyance until the October 9th, 2006 school board meeting.
On motion of Mr. Howerton, seconded Mr. Sanner, the Board tabled the item for Stage or Extra Seating Project in the Johnson Bayou gym.
On motion of Mr. Howerton, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board approved to have a scope of work completed, bids taken and the board review for the large gym and VoAg/storage in former band room, lobby & concession areas; little gym, dressing rooms and supporting area, for the restoration project at the South Cameron site.
On motion of Mr. Trahan, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board requested that the ensuing list of projects be prioritized with estimated completion costs in order for the Board to review these items at the regular schedule meeting on October 9, 2006.
1. Softball Field Project – Grand Lake
2. Track Restoration Project – Johnson Bayou site
3. Track Restoration Project – South Cameron site
4. Storage Building Project – Hackberry High site
5. Stadium Complex Restoration Project – South Cameron site
6. Permanent PK – 12 School Project – South Cameron site
a. PK-5, PK-6, or PK-7 facility in one building
b. 6-12, 7-12, or 8-12 facility in one building
c. All supporting structures built in these two facilities
7. Permanent Central Office Complex Project – Cameron Elem. Site
8. Pavilion Project – Johnson Bayou site
a. Estimate - $274,569.00
9. Playground Projects – all four sites
10. Central Warehousing Project
11. Bus Fleet Maintenance Project
12. Surface on Track – Hackberry School site
13. Surface Preparation as Required
On motion of Mr. Howerton, seconded by Mrs. Abadie, the Board requested that Mr. Cecil Sanner, Board Counsel and District Attorney, obtain an opinion from the Attorney General’s office regarding the legality of Chenier Energy’s prepayment of taxes proposal.
On motion of Mr. Trahan, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board approved the superintendent’s recommendation to seek Improved Project status for following school site Project Worksheets: Cameron Elementary’s instructional building, auditorium, and gym; South Cameron Elementary; and South Cameron High School. That is, seek to use the funds allocated to the facilities of Cameron Elementary, South Cameron Elementary, and South Cameron High to construct a PK-12 campus at 753 Grand Chenier Highway, Creole, Louisiana, i.e., the former site of South Cameron High.
On motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mr. Trahan, the Board approved the superintendent’s recommendation to seek Improved Project status for central office site Project Worksheet; that is, seek approval to use the funds allocated to the central office facility at 246 Dewey Street to construct a new central office facility at 510 Marshal Street, Cameron, Louisiana.

ABSTAIN: None
On motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mrs. Morris, the Board adjourned the meeting until the next regular meeting of October 9, 2006, at the South Cameron site in Creole, LA.
