Parish of Cameron
January 14, 2008
The Cameron Parish School Board met at its regular meeting on this date, members in attendance are: Karen Nunez, Scott Nunez, Loston McEvers, Dot Theriot, Dwayne Sanner, Marsha Trahan and Marvin Trahan.
The prayer and the pledge was led by Scott Nunez, Cameron Parish School Board member.
On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mr. Nunez, the Board approved the agenda.
On the motion of Mr. Trahan, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board approved the minutes as printed from the December 10, 2007 regular board meeting.
On the motion of Mr. Trahan, nominating Mr. Dwayne Sanner as President, and Mrs. Nunez nominating Mr. Scott Nunez as Vice President, the Board approved officers for the 2008 and 2009 calendar years.
On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mr. Trahan, the Board approved the payment of bills and acceptance of financial statement as presented by Ms. Jones. Superintendent Rodrigue requested to leave Mr. McEvers with the ability to sign checks, if deemed necessary. Mrs. Dot Theriot made a motion to add Scott Nunez and Dwayne Sanner to signature cards for the Cameron Parish School Board financial accounts and investigate the request to have Mr. Loston McEvers remain as a signature on account.
On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board received monthly update on FEMA issues as presented by the Superintendent.
· Payments since November 9, 2007 and overall payment of $4,877.069.27 to date
· Debris removal funding
· Ineligibility of Rita applicants for expedited environmental review (required for all construction, including pre-disturbed sites; only Katrina applicants are eligible for expedition of environmental reviews and assessments)
· Correspondence on FEMA requirement to obtain approval PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION on change of pre-disaster/location and improved projects.
On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mr. McEvers, the Board received updates on postponed issues as presented by the Superintendent.
· Energy management contract (Contracts from firms in the State of Louisiana are being reviewed in reference to the statutory definition of a performance – based energy efficiency contract as per opinion number 07-0002);
· Property issues (District Attorney Cecil Sanner is progressing on Johnson Bayou High School property purchase, the Corps of Engineer’s levee, Wildlife and Fisheries issues and the Big Lake property swap/purchase proposal. He will be in attendance at the February 11, 2008 meeting)
On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board receive Update on State Department of Education Issues as presented by the Superintendent.

· High School Redesign
On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mr. McEvers, the Board received a update on Louisiana Fur and Wildlife Festival Parade Activities as presented by the Superintendent.
On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mr. Trahan, the Board approved the following Personnel Report.
