Parish of Cameron
June 9, 2008
The Cameron Parish School Board met at its regular meeting on this date, members in attendance are: Karen Nunez, R. Scott Nunez, Loston McEvers, Dot Theriot, Dwayne Sanner, Marsha Trahan; absent : Marvin Trahan.
The prayer and the pledge were led by Corbet Dupont.
On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Trahan, the Board approved the agenda with addendum.
On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board approved the minutes as printed from the May 12, 2008 regular board meeting.
On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mr. Nunez, the Board approved the date and time of the special school board meeting for the purpose of accepting the preliminary budget for revising 2007-2008 school year and appointments of new employees.
On a motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board received the report from Corbet Dupont, on his participation in the 2008 Junior National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C.
On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mrs. Trahan, the Board approved the following Financial Issues:
· Authorize payment of the bills Ms. Lannin
· Consider Financial Statement and reports of Current Investments including Cheniere Prepayments, Bond Schedule, Special Projects Fund Mrs. Smythe
· Receive monthly update on FEMA issues, with overall payments of $5,757,993.29 to date, per spread sheet, including an additional $296,812.03 READY TO PAY Superintendent
· Receive report on payment of Protest Taxes ordered by Tax Collector in the amount of $43,921.08 to Florida Gas Transmission- Superintendent
· Receive newly proposed 2008-2009 MFP, as of June 6, 2008 - Superintendent
· Receive legislative update to date, including some financial issues, with contact information Superintendent
On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mr. Trahan, the Board received a report from Mr. Zembower, Architect of Record, on bids received for construction of Central Office Administration Building.
On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mr. McEvers, the Board received a report on segregation of items within the Cameron Parish School Board low bid that is not currently in alignment with Project Worksheet for Cameron Parish School Board Administration Office Kisha Kilmer, State of Louisiana, Governors Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, Group Lead for Alternate and Improved Projects/Environmental and Historic Preservation.
On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mr. Nunez, the Board approved the construction bid for the Central Office Administration Building as presented by Mr. James Hoffpauir.

On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board approved the report on efforts to move South Cameron High School, Consolidation Project, from an Improved status to an actual cost project based on historical data from the eastern side of Louisiana Kisha Kilmer, State of Louisiana, Governors Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, Group Lead for Alternate and Improved Projects/Environmental and Historic Preservation.
On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board received the notice of Southwest Louisiana High Performance Schools Green Building Workshop for teachers, architects and contractors on Wednesday, August 6, 2008, 9:30 A.M. 4:30 P.M. at Cameron High School Superintendent.
On the motion of Mr. McEvers, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board approved the Excess Workers Compensation Coverage Option 2 which is for a $300,000 SIR on a 1 year policy with a deposit premium of $38,515 as presented by Mr. Slocum.
On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board received the report on the waiver request from the Cameron Parish Police Jury for the South Cameron High School concession stand and restrooms, FEMA project as presented by the Superintendent.
On the motion of Mr. McEvers, seconded by Mrs. Trahan, the Board approved the following bids for 2008-2009: Milk, Bread, and Duplicating Paper as presented by Mrs. Carpenter. (Attachment)

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, the Cameron Parish School Board has received an application to advertise for bid for a lease for oil and gas from Gray Production Company covering the following described tract of land:
That certain tract or parcel of land containing 320 acres, more or less, described as the North Half (N/2) of Section 16, Township 15 South, Range 15 West, Cameron Parish, Louisiana, containing 320 acres, more or less.
WHEREAS, said application was accompanied by a certified check in the amount of $500.00 payable to the Cameron Parish School Board, as required by law, and
WHEREAS, the Cameron Parish School Board is desirous of advertising for bid the above described tract of land as requested.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Cameron Parish School Board does hereby authorize and request its Superintendent, Stephanie Rodrigue, to advertise, pursuant to the terms of R.S. 30, Sections 151 through 158 as amended, for an oil and gas lease, covering and affecting the following described tracts of land:
That certain tract or parcel of land containing 320 acres, more or less, described as the North Half (N/2) of Section 16, Township 15 South, Range 15 West, Cameron Parish, Louisiana, containing 320 acres, more or less.
Said advertisement shall further provide that said bids shall be received on or before the 14th day of July, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. at the office of the Cameron Parish School Board, and that the Cameron Parish School Board reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Stephanie Rodrigue, Superintendent of the Cameron Parish School Board, is empowered to do each and every thing that is necessary to carry out the intents and purposes of this resolution and that such actions are hereby approved and ratified as actions of this Board.
