The Cameron Parish School Board met at its regular meeting on this date, members in attendance are: Loston McEvers, Dot Theriot, Marsha Trahan, Dwayne Sanner, Karen Nunez, Marvin Trahan and R. Scott Nunez.
The prayer and the pledge were led by Mrs. Marsha Trahan and Mrs. Dot Theriot.
On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board approved the board minutes of the regular meeting on September 13, 2010, as presented by the Superintendent.
On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Trahan, the Board approved the following financial issues, as presented by Mrs. Smythe-

Financial Statement and Reports of Current Investments
On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Trahan, the Board received monthly update on FEMA issues, with overall payments of $36,048,681.75 (Rita, Gustav and Ike payments) to date, per spread sheet, $8,627,867.32 in request for funds submitted to be paid, as presented by Ms. Cisneros.
On the motion of Mr. Sanner, seconded by Mr. McEvers, the Board approved the cleaning and removal of storm debris from the South Canal, Gravity Drainage District # 7, Johnson Bayou, Section 16-14-14 as presented by the Marsha Trahan. Abstained: Marsha Trahan
On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board approved revisions to Policy JCDA Code of Conduct to add the offense and disposition of any measurable amount of alcohol detected and to make mandatory the Breathlayzer Testing at all Homecoming Dances and Proms for all four parish schools, as presented by Mr. Benoit. On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board approved current construction bid activities, as presented by James Hoffpauir, Project Manager.

On the motion of Mr. McEvers, seconded by Mrs. Trahan, the Board approved District Attorney Cecil Sanner’s recommendation to extend Young’s General Contracting, Inc. contract for the demolition of Johnson Bayou High School until November 1, 2010, as presented by Superintendent and District Attorney Cecil Sanner.
On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board approved District Attorney Cecil Sanner’s recommendation to extend Young’s General Contracting, Inc. contract by 30 additional days after approval of applicable permits by the Cameron Parish Police Jury and Gravity Drainage District #7 at their respective November meetings, as presented by Superintendent and District Attorney Cecil Sanner.
On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board rescinded the original motion to extend Young’s General Contracting, Inc. contract for the demolition of Johnson Bayou High School until November 1, 2010, as presented by Superintendent and District Attorney Cecil Sanner.
On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mr. McEvers, the Board received updates on efforts of Charles Hardie, attorney on retainer with Hammond and Sills, in the production of front-end contract documents to protect the interest of Cameron Parish School Board in typical AIA contracts within construction agreements with architects and contractors, as presented by Superintendent and Mr. Hardie .
On the motion of Mr. McEvers, seconded by Mrs. Trahan, the Board approved authorizing the Superintendent to advertise for new bids and accept low bids on currently advertised projects due to requisite number of advertising days and a need to move forward on projects, as presented by the Superintendent.
On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mr. Nunez, the Board received updates on current FEMA, CDBG and General Fund Construction, Repairs, and Renovations to permanent and temporary sites' projects, as presented by Hoffpauir Architects, LLC, Cameron Parish School Board's Project Management Firm, Mr. James Hoffpauir, Architect, Selena Cisneros, Engineer and Superintendent .
On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board approved the following new policies and revisions to existing policies, per the 2010 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislatures, as presented by the Superintendent :

On the motion of Mrs. Trahan, seconded by Mr. Sanner, the Board received for 30 day review the following new policies and revisions to existing policies, per the 2010 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislatures and/or other updates, as presented by the Superintendent:

On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board approved update of academic programs to fulfill requirements of ACT 380, Annual School Board Member Training, beginning at 3:00 pm on Monday, November 8, 2010, prior to regular meeting, as presented by Superintendent.
On the motion of Mr. McEvers, seconded by Mrs. Trahan, the Board approved out-of-state travel for Johnson Bayou High School Boys and Girls Basketball Teams; November 9, 2010 to Sabine Pass High School in Sabine Pass, Texas to play annual basketball games; administrators, coaches, athletes; funds from Johnson Bayou Athletic Fund account; and Johnson Bayou High School Girls Basketball Teams hosting Sabine Pass High School on December 11, 2010 to play in Johnson Bayou, as presented by Superintendent.
On the motion of Mr. Nunez seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board approved the Personnel Report, as presented by Superintendent.
On the motion of Mr. McEvers, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board adjourned the regular school board meeting.
