Parish of Cameron

The Cameron Parish School Board met at a special meeting on this date, members in attendance are: Tracy Carter, Dot Theriot, Marsha Trahan, Karen Nunez, James Boudreaux, R. Scott Nunez and Dwayne Sanner.
The prayer and the pledge were led by Mrs. Nunez and Mr. Nunez.
On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Carter, the Board approved the agenda.
On the motion of Mr. Boudreaux, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board approved the board minutes of the regular meeting on June 11, 2012, as presented by the Superintendent.
The Board voted to enter into executive session for the purpose of receiving updates on the following cases, as presented by the Superintendent;
· State of LA and CPSB v. BP American Production Company, ET AL, Docket No.10-18627- Mr. Donald T. Carmouche, Carmouche, Talbot & Marcello and Chad Mudd, Mudd and Bruchhauss, LLC
· State of LA and CPSB v. Aspect Energy, LLC, Azimuth Energy, LLC, Conoco Phillips Company and Dundee Petroleum, Inc., Docket No.10-18673- Mr. Donald T. Carmouche, Carmouche, Talbot & Marcello and Chad Mudd, Mudd and Bruchhauss, LLC
· Appeal to student disciplinary issue- Superintendent

On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Trahan, the Board received updated information regarding, State of LA and CPSB v. BP American Production Company, ET AL, Docket No.10-18627, as presented by Mr. Donald T. Carmouche, Carmouche, Talbot & Marcello and Chad Mudd, Mudd and Bruchhauss, LLC.
On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mr. Boudreaux, the Board moved to grant legal counsel authorization to complete settlement and negotiations and grant the Superintendent authority to sign any and all documents necessary to complete the entire settlement agreement with regards to, State of LA and CPSB v. Aspect Energy, LLC, Azimuth Energy, LLC, Conoco Phillips Company and Dundee Petroleum, Inc., Docket No.10-18673, as presented by Mr. Donald T. Carmouche, Carmouche, Talbot & Marcello and Chad Mudd, Mudd and Bruchhauss, LLC.
On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Trahan, the Board approved upholding the original decision on a student disciplinary issue, as presented by the Superintendent.
On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Carter, the Board approved revisions to the Child Nutrition program to align with the federal Healthy Hungry Free Kids Act of 2010, as well as increases to school breakfast and lunch charges to one preK-12 scale, as presented by the Superintendent.
On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board approved annual revisions to the Pupil Progression Policy, as recommended by School Communities’ Stakeholder Committee, as presented by Mrs. Miller.
Nays: Dorothy Theriot/ Marsha Trahan
On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mr. Nunez, the Board approved elimination of Driver’s Education for the 2012-2013 school year and moving forward, to align with moving Driver’s Education Program from the Louisiana Department of Education to the Louisiana Department of Motor Vehicles, as presented by the Superintendent.
On the motion of Mr. Boudreaux, seconded by Mr. Nunez, the Board received correspondence prepared by Tax Assessor Mona Kelley requesting that millage rate setting to be postponed until after August 1, 2012, as presented by Mrs. Trahan.
On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Carter, the Board adjourned the special school board meeting.
