Parish of Cameron

The Cameron Parish School Board met at its regular meeting on this date, members in attendance are: Tracy Carter, Dot Theriot, Marsha Trahan, Karen Nunez, James Boudreaux, R. Scott Nunez and Dwayne Sanner.

 

The prayer and the pledge were led by Mrs. Carter and Mr. Boudreaux.

 

On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Carter, the Board approved the agenda.

 

On the motion of Mrs. Carter, seconded by Mr. Boudreaux, the Board approved the board minutes of the regular meeting on July 9, 2012, as presented by the Superintendent.

 

On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mr. Sanner, the Board approved to accept high bidders on surface lease bids for expired leases, as presented by Mr. Lee Bloch, Bloch, Briggs and Associates.

On the motion of Mr. Sanner, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board received proposals from Lake Charles Sports Medicine and Center for Orthopaedics and awarded the contract to Center for Orthopaedics for the 2012-2013 school sports year as the district’s sports medicine provider for all sports at all schools, at no cost to the Cameron Parish School Board. Opposed: James Boudreaux and Dorothy Theriot

 

On the motion of Mr. Boudreaux, seconded by Mr. Sanner, the Board approved the following financial issues:

 

·         Authorization of payment of the bills, as presented by Mrs. Trahan.

·         Receipt of Financial Statement and Reports of Current Investments, as presented by Mrs. Trahan.

·  Receipt of monthly update on FEMA issues, with overall payments of $ 54,273,174.16 (Rita, Gustav and Ike) to date, as presented by Ms. Sylvia Cisneros.

 

·         Retained the firm of Cossich, Sumich and Parsiola to continue assistance with FEMA/GOHSEP claims and issues as they relate to Hurricanes Rita, Gustav, and Ike, as presented by the Superintendent.

·         Received millage rates for the tax year 2012, as presented by Mrs. Trahan.

On the motion of Mr. Boudreaux, seconded by Mrs. Trahan, the Board approved adopting the Cameron Parish School Board Disaster Recovery Funding (CDBG) Monitoring Plan and naming Michelle Trahan, Business Manager, as Monitoring Coordinator, as presented by the Superintendent.

 

On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mr. Boudreaux, the Board approved current construction bid activities, as presented by James Hoffpauir, Project Management:

 

A.  Projects to be bid-   James Hoffpauir, Project Management

·         Grand Lake High School Track Facility- Pressbox- Out to Bid August 16, 2012, pending CDBG approval.

·         Cameron Auditorium Generator- Out to Bid August 23, 2012, pending CDBG approval.

 

B.  Projects out for bid-   James Hoffpauir, Project Management

C.   Approval of bid and quote awards- Selena Cisneros, Project Management

On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mr. Boudreaux, the Board approved authorizing the Superintendent to advertise for new bids and accept low bids on currently advertised projects due to requisite number of advertising days and a need to move forward on projects, as presented by the Superintendent.

 

On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mr. Boudreaux, the Board approved updates on current FEMA, CDBG and General Fund Construction, Repairs, and Renovations to permanent and temporary sites' projects from Hoffpauir Architects, LLC, Cameron Parish School Board's Project Management Firm, as presented by James Hoffpauir, Architect, and Selena Cisneros, Engineer, Superintendent and Project Architects.

 

On the motion of Mr. Boudreaux, seconded by Mr. Nunez the Board approved with recommendations of Hammonds, Sills, Adkins and Guice, LLP, policies to align with the 2012 Louisiana Legislative Session:
