The Cameron Parish School Board met at its regular meeting on this date, members in attendance are: Marsha Trahan, Tracy Carter, Karen Nunez, James Boudreaux, R. Scott Nunez and Dorothy Theriot.  Absent: Dwayne Sanner

 

The prayer and the pledge were led by Mr. Nunez and Mr. Boudreaux.

 

On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mr. Boudreaux, the Board approved the agenda.

 

On the motion of Mrs. Carter, seconded by Mr. Nunez, the Board approved the minutes of the May 12, 2014, Cameron Parish School Board meetings, as presented by the Superintendent.

 

On the motion of Mr. Boudreaux, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board received update from The Communication Institute for professional communication services in 2013-2014 year, as presented by Mrs. Barbara Carey, accompanied by Ms. Angela deGavelles and Mr. Mike McCall.

 

On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board received the monthly report on property income, as prepared by Mr. Lee Bloch, Bloch, Briggs and Associates, and presented by the Superintendent.

 

                        On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mr. Boudreaux, the Board approved the following financial issues as received in the finance committee meeting, as presented by Mrs. Michelle Trahan:

 

·       Authorization of payment of the bills

·       Report of Finance Committee

·       Receipt of Financial Statement and Reports of Current Investments

·       Receipt of Eagle Asset Management May Report

·       Receipt of monthly report on FEMA Project Worksheets, as prepared by Hoffpauir Architects

            

On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board accepted the Final Budget for close of 2014 fiscal year, as presented by Mrs. Michelle Trahan.

 

On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mr. Boudreaux, the Board approved acceptance of bids for the following items noted, as presented by Mrs. Michelle Trahan:

 

1.     Copy Paper – 2014 – 2015 school year

2.     Official Journal – Cameron Pilot– 2014 – 2015 school year

On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board approved current construction bid activities, as presented by James Hoffpauir, Project Management:

            

A.  Projects to be bid-   James Hoffpauir, Project Management

·       South Cameron High School Parking Lot- Rita/Ike-Bid date to be determined

B.  Projects out for bid-   James Hoffpauir, Project Management

·       Grand Lake High School Baseball Complex Restrooms –bids to be received July 8, 2014 

C.  Quote out for response-   James Hoffpauir, Project Management

 

·       None at this time.

 

D.   Approval of bid and quote awards- Architects and Project Management

 

·       None at this time.

 

On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board authorized the Superintendent to advertise for new bids and accept low bids on currently advertised projects due to requisite number of advertising days and a need to move forward on projects, as presented by the Superintendent.

 

On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board approved updates to current FEMA, CDBG and General Fund Construction, Repairs, and Renovations to permanent and temporary sites' projects from Hoffpauir Architects, LLC, Cameron Parish School Board's Project Management Firm, as presented by James Hoffpauir, Mr. David Brossett, Brossett Architects, LLC and Mr. Randy Broussard, Randall Broussard Architects.

 

                        On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board received recommendations for 30 day review revisions to Policy JCDA, Student Code of Conduct, per annual Discipline Policy Review Committee meeting, as presented by Mr. Robert Kimball.

 

On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mr. Nunez, the Board approved use of school bus for First Baptist Church of Cameron and Wakefield Methodist Church summer sports camp, traveling between churches and Cameron Parish Recreation Center, with churches providing payment of $.40/mile bus fees, driver fee and appropriate liability and auto physical damage insurance, as presented by the Superintendent, Mr. Charles Hardie, Hammonds, Sills, Adkins and Guice, LLC and District Attorney Cecil Sanner.

 

On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mr. Boudreaux, the Board requested Hammonds, Sills, Adkins and Guice, LLC to draft initial or revise current Cameron Parish School Board policies to reflect the following, as presented by President Marsha Trahan and the Superintendent:

 

·       Use of moveables (new)

·       Construction change orders (new)

·       Designated board spokesperson (new)

·       DJD- Expense Reimbursement (proposed revision)

·       GBRK- Annual Leave (proposed revision)

·       CED- Employment of Superintendent (proposed revision)

·       BCBI- Public Participation (proposed revision)

            

On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board adjourned the regular school board meeting.
