Parish of Cameron

The Cameron Parish School Board met at its regular meeting on this date at 2:03 pm and meeting was called to order, members in attendance were: Robin Morales, Marsha Trahan, Telesha Bertrand, Christi Labove, Sharon Picou, Joseph Delcambre, and Randall Faulk

Absent: Sheila Miller

 

The prayer and the pledge were led by Mrs. Trahan and Mrs. Picou.

 

            On the motion of Mrs. Picou, seconded by Mrs. Morales, the Board approved the agenda.

                                   

                        On the motion of Mrs. Picou, seconded by Mrs. Morales, the Board approved the board minutes of the August 10, 2020 and September 24, 2020 regular meetings and the September 9, 2020 and September 14, 2020 special called meetings of the Cameron Parish School Board, as presented by the Superintendent.

                       

            On the motion of Mrs. Trahan, seconded by Mrs. Picou, the Board approved payment of the bills, as presented by Mrs. Michelle Trahan.

 

The Board received Financial Statement and Reports of Current Investments, as presented by Mrs. Michelle Trahan.

 

            On the motion of Mrs. Picou, seconded by Mr. Delcambre, the Board approved moving item number six to the bottom of agenda prior to adjournment. 

 

            The Board received reports on current construction bid activities, as presented by Mr. James Hoffpauir, Hoffpauir Project Management Team:

            A.         Projects to be bid-   James Hoffpauir, Project Management

 

·         None at this time

 

            B.          Projects out for bid/quotes-   James Hoffpauir, Project Management

 

·         None at this time

 

C.          Approval of bid and quote awards- Superintendent

 

·         None at this time

 

            On the motion of Mrs. Trahan, seconded by Mrs. Picou, the Board approved authorizing the Superintendent to advertise for new bids and accept low bids on currently advertised projects due to requisite number of advertising days and a need to move forward on projects, as presented by the Superintendent.

 

The Board received updates on current FEMA, CDBG and General Fund Construction, Repairs, and Renovations to permanent and temporary sites' projects from Hoffpauir Architects, LLC, Cameron Parish School Board's Project Management Firm, as presented by Hoffpauir Architects, LLC and Project Architects.

 

                        The Board received for review policies to align with the 2020 Louisiana Legislative Session, as presented by the Superintendent:

                        BCAD               Teleconference/Remote Participation in School Board Meetings

                        EFC                  Business Continuity and Technology Disaster Recovery

                        CED                 Employment of Superintendent

                        GBDA               Employment of Retired Personnel

                        DJED               Bids and Quotations

                        JGCE               Child Abuse

 

The Board received update on anticipated timeline for restoration to be complete, as presented by the Superintendent.

 

The Board received update on Hurricane Laura and Delta, as presented by the Superintendent.

 

            On the motion of Mr. Delcambre, seconded by Mrs. Bertrand, the Board approved authorizing Superintendent to pursue a waiver with the Federal Flood Insurance Administration as warranted for Hurricane Delta, as presented by the Superintendent.

 

            On the motion of Mr. Delcambre, seconded by Mrs. Picou, the Board approved authorizing the Superintendent to sign an addendum or new contracts to include Hurricane Delta for Hurri-Clean, Signature and Hoffpauir Architects, LLC, as presented by the Superintendent.

 

            On the motion of Mr. Delcambre, seconded by Mrs. Trahan, the Board approved accepting Vincent, Shows & Gautreaux Architects and Brossett Architects for A&E and Hoffpauir Architects for PM consulting services for permanent work on CPSB damaged facilities, as presented by the Superintendent.

 

            On the motion of Mr. Delcambre, seconded by Mrs. Picou, the Board approved for use of Cameron Parish School Board property (Old South Cameron Elementary location) to the Cameron Parish Police Jury, as presented by the Superintendent.

 

            The Board received information on the monthly report on property income as prepared by land Manager, as prepared by Mr. Tom Barrett.

 

            The Board received information on deferment of surface lease contracts as presented by Mr. Tom Barrett and took no action.

 

            On the motion of Mrs. Picou, seconded by Mrs. Bertrand, the Board adjourned the regular school board meeting at 2:38 pm.
