Parish of Cameron

The Cameron Parish School Board met at its regular meeting on this date at 5:00 pm and meeting was called to order, members in attendance were: Telesha Bertrand, Sheila Miller, Christi Labove, Sharon Picou and Joseph Delcambre

 Absent: Marsha Trahan, Robin Morales and Randall Faulk

 

The prayer and the pledge were led by Mr. Delcambre and Mrs. Bertrand.

 

            On the motion of Mrs. Picou, seconded by Mrs. Miller, the Board approved the agenda.

 

            On the motion of Mrs. Picou, seconded by Mrs. Miller, the Board approved the board minutes of the May 10, 2021 regular meeting of the Cameron Parish School Board, as presented by the Superintendent.

 

            The Board received presentation of Quarterly Report, as presented by Trainer Jason Rodriguez, Center for Orthopaedics.

 

On the motion of Mrs. Millers, seconded by Mrs. Bertrand, the Board approved payment of the bills, as presented by Mrs. Michelle Trahan.

 

The Board received Financial Statement and Reports of Current Investments, as presented by Mrs. Michelle Trahan.

 

            The Board received information and discussed initial draft of 2021-2022 Budget, as presented by Mrs. Michelle Trahan.

 

            The Board received information on the monthly report on property income as prepared by District Attorney Tom Barrett and Mr. Mike Cassidy- Cameron Parish District Attorney office.

 

            On the motion of Mrs. Miller, seconded by Mrs. Bertrand, the Board approved to table till the July meeting issuance of Right-Of-Way with Entergy, as presented by District Attorney Tom Barrett.

 

            On the motion of Mrs. Miller, seconded by Mrs. Bertrand, the Board approved mitigation intent on Section 16-15-15, as presented by District Attorney Tom Barrett and Mr. Mike Cassidy- Cameron Parish District Attorney office.

 

The Board received reports on current construction bid activities, as presented by Mr. James Hoffpauir, Hoffpauir Project Management Team:

 

A.         Projects to be bid/quotes

On the motion of Mrs. Miller, seconded by Mrs. Picou, the Board approved awarding of South Cameron High School Main School Restoration, low bidder, Garden City Construction, Inc., as presented by Mr. James Hoffpauir, Hoffpauir Project Management.

 

On the motion of Mrs. Miller, seconded by Mrs. Picou, the Board approved authorizing the Superintendent to advertise for new bids and accept low bids on currently advertised projects due to requisite number of advertising days and a need to move forward on projects, as presented by the Superintendent.

 

The Board received updates on current FEMA, CDBG and General Fund Construction, Repairs, and Renovations to permanent and temporary sites' projects from Hoffpauir Architects, LLC, Cameron Parish School Board's Project Management Firm, as presented by Hoffpauir Architects, LLC and Project Architects.   

 

On the motion of Mrs. Miller, seconded by Mrs. Bertrand, the Board approved the following contracts, as presented by the Superintendent:

A.    Grand Lake High School- renewal Principal- Robbie Gates

B.    Grand Lake High School- renewal Principal- Lauren Cesar

C.    South Cameron High School- renewal Asst. Principal- Heidi Baccigalopi

D.    Special Ed Supervisor –renewal Courtnie King

 

On the motion of Mrs. Miller, seconded by Mrs. Picou, the Board approved adoption of Model Resolution Position on ACT Index Changes, as presented by Supervisor Karen Ray and the Superintendent.

 

The Board received information to consider creation of policy to follow governor’s guidelines regarding wearing of masks, as presented by the Superintendent.

Please accept this report regarding my efforts to meet the following Performance Objectives as outlined in Exhibit A of my employment contract:

 

1.     Human Resource Management

 

a.     Visited each campus weekly to meet with administration regarding any issues and also visited various classrooms and teachers

b.     Held C&I meetings with Supervisors on 5/5

 

2.     District Operations and Financial Management

a.      

b.     Participated in phone conference with FEMA reps on 5/21

c.     Participated in SWLA Superintendent’s Assoc. virtual meeting on 5/6

d.     Participated in CPSB Salary taskforce meeting on 5/10

e.     Visited 16th section land with Tom Barrett and Michael Cassidy to discuss an issue

 

3.     Student Growth and Achievement

 

a.     Held meeting regarding summer school with supervisors on 5/26

b.     Attended HB Graduation on 5/14

c.     Attended SCHS Graduation on 5/15

d.     Attended GLHS Graduation on 5/18

e.     Attended JBHS Graduation on 5/21

 

4.     Communication and Community Relations

a.      

b.     Attended and participated in the CPR Geaux meeting @ CPPJ on 5/5

c.     Attended GLHS Baseball Semi-Final game on 5/14

d.     Attended GLHS Baseball Championship game on 5/15

e.     Met with United States Senator Bill Cassidy @ CPPJ on 5/21 with other local officials to discuss parish concerns and issues

 

5.     Organizational Leadership

 

a.     Participated in LDOE Superintendent call on 5/7/21

b.     Visited JBHS and HHS with Pen Carrow rep to discuss upcoming PD for schools.

 

On the motion of Mrs. Miller, seconded by Mrs. Picou, the Board discussed and approved returning to the guidelines set forth in the uniform policy for 2021-2022 school year, as presented by the Superintendent.

 

The Board took a Roll Call Vote to enter into Executive Session for the purpose of discussion of evaluation of the Superintendent, as presented by the President Christi Labove:

            On the motion of Mrs. Picou, seconded by Mr. Delcambre, the Board adjourned the regular school board meeting at 5:53 pm.
