The Cameron Parish School Board met in special session at 3:00 p.m. on this date for the purpose of adopting millage rates for tax year 2004. The following members were present: Loston McEvers, Vice-President, Dot Theriot, Pat Howerton, Dwayne Sanner and Rachel Abadie. Absent: Clifton Morris, President and Marvin Trahan. Mr. Loston McEvers, Vice President presided.

Resolution #1 – After the reading of Resolution #1 regarding the adoption of millage rates for the tax year 2004, the following action was taken:

Roll call vote results are as follows:

YEAS: Mrs. Dot Theriot, Mr. Pat Howerton, Mr. Dwayne Sanner, Mr. Loston McEvers, Mrs. Rachel Abadie

NAYS: None

ABSTAINED: None

ABSENT: Mr. Clifton Morris and Mr. Marvin Trahan

The resolution was adopted.

Resolution # 2 – After the reading of Resolution #2 regarding the adoption of the adjusted millage rates after reassessment and roll forward the millage to rates not to exceed the prior years maximum millage for the tax year 2004, the following action was taken:

Pursuant to the law, Mrs. Paula Smythe addressed the board with comments and questions regarding millages.

Roll call vote results are as follows:

YEAS: Mrs. Dot Theriot, Mr. Pat Howerton, Mr. Dwayne Sanner, Mr. Loston McEvers

NAYS: Mrs. Rachel Abadie

ABSTAINED: None

ABSENT: Mr. Clifton Morris and Mr. Marvin Trahan

The adoption of the resolution failed since a two-thirds vote of the elected membership of the Board is required for passage; i.e., five yeas.

Resolution #3 – After the reading of Resolution #3 regarding the adoption of other authorized millages for Bonding Districts for the tax year 2004, the following action was taken:

Roll call vote results are as follows:

YEAS: Mrs. Dot Theriot, Mr. Pat Howerton, Mr. Dwayne Sanner, Mr. Loston McEvers, Mrs. Rachel Abadie

NAYS: None

ABSTAINED: None

ABSENT: Mr. Clifton Morris and Mr. Marvin Trahan

The resolution was adopted.

On motion of Mr. Howerton, seconded by Mr. Sanner, the Board adjourned until the next regular session on October 11, 2004.
