Parish of Cameron
August 11, 2008
The Cameron Parish School Board met at its regular meeting on this date, members in attendance are: Karen Nunez, R. Scott Nunez, Loston McEvers, Dot Theriot, Dwayne Sanner, Marsha Trahan; absent was Marvin Trahan.
The prayer and the pledge were led by R. Scott Nunez and Loston McEvers.
On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mrs. Trahan, the Board approved the agenda with addendum.
On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mr. McEvers, the Board approved the minutes as printed from the July 14, 2008 regular board meeting.
On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mr. Nunez, the Board approved the following Financial Issues:
· Authorized payment of the bills Ms. Lannin
· Considered Financial Statement and reports of Current Investments including Mrs. Smythe
• Received monthly update on FEMA issues, with overall payments of $5,755,140.29 to date, per spread sheet as presented by the Superintendent
On the motion of Mr. McEvers seconded by Mr. Nunez, the Board approved the acceptance of highest bid on the following surface leases. (See Attachment)

On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the approved the joint service agreement with Counseling Services of Southwest Louisiana to provide counseling services for students throughout the parish.
On the motion of Mr. McEvers, seconded by Mrs. Trahan, the Board approved the Alternative School Site guidelines.
On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board approved the At Cost meal price increase for adults and visitors $3.50 to $4.15 for lunch with elementary student lunch prices remaining at $1.10 and high school student lunch prices remaining at $1.25, as in 2007- 2008, as presented by Cynthia Carpenter.
On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board approved the appointment of Randall D. Broussard, Architect, LLC, to provide engineering and architectural services for repairs and additions to all athletic fields and accessory buildings at Grand Lake High School, Hackberry High School, Johnson Bayou High School and South Cameron High Schools with bid proposals to be captured individually for the purpose of FEMA and other project funding sources, as presented by the Superintendent.
On the motion of Mr. McEvers, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board approved the contract with Kelder, Champagne, Slaven and Co., LLC, as Cameron Parish School Board auditor for the 2008-2009 fiscal year, as presented by the Superintendent.
On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Trahan, the Board approved the revisions to policies listed, based on recent legislative action, as well as revisions to various Louisiana Department of Education bulletins, as presented by the Superintendent.

On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mrs. Trahan, the Board received the of Teachers Bill of Rights, per Louisiana Revised Statute 14:416.18, as presented by the Superintendent.
On the motion of Mr. McEvers, seconded by Mr. Nunez, the Board reviewed and approved the revised Acceptable Use Policy for Internet and District Network Resources and Web Publishing Policy, in accordance with previously approved 2008 Cameron Parish School Board Long-range Instructional Technology Plan as presented by Mrs. Sheila Miller.
On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mrs. Trahan, the Board approved the Personnel Report as presented by the Superintendent.
