Parish of Cameron

The Cameron Parish School Board met at its regular meeting on this date, members in attendance are: Loston McEvers, Dot Theriot, Marsha Trahan, Dwayne Sanner, Karen Nunez and R. Scott Nunez, absent was: Marvin Trahan.
The prayer and the pledge were led by Mr. Loston McEvers and Mrs. Marsha Trahan.
On the motion of Mr. McEvers, seconded by Mrs. Trahan, the Board approved the agenda with addendum.
On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board approved the minutes as printed from the November 9, 2009 regular board meeting.
On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Trahan, the Board approved the following Financial Issues and Budget Revision:
· Authorized the payment of the bills as presented by Ms. Lannin.
· Considered the Financial Statement and Reports of Current Investments as presented by Ms. Smythe.
· Received monthly update on FEMA issues, with overall payments of $28,376,617.52 (Rita, Gustav and Ike payments) to date, per spread sheet, $4,523,900.23 (including $1,062,496.32 in insurance received) in request for funds submitted to be paid, as presented by the Superintendent and Mrs. Angie Styron.
· Received notice of change of location of Cameron Parish School Board Temporary Warehouse from 2421 Gerstner Memorial Hwy, Lake Charles, LA 70601 to 4785 West Creole Hwy, Creole, LA 70632, at a savings of $300.00 per month plus labor, mileage, vehicle wear and tear, with greater savings to be determined on temporary rental space after move to Central Administration Office is complete (an extension for rental reimbursement is being requested from FEMA) as presented by the Superintendent.
On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board approved the following construction/repair/renovation issues as presented by Hoffpauir Architects, LLC:
· Received update on current FEMA, CDBG and General Fund Construction, Repairs, and Renovations to permanent and temporary sites' projects from Hoffpauir Architects, LLC, Cameron Parish School Board's Project Management Firm - James Hoffpauir, Architect, and Selena Cisneros, Engineer, Superintendent
· Approved H. Curtis Vincent-Steven D. Shows, Architects, APC, as Architectural firm for Cameron Elementary Auditorium, a FEMA replacement project as presented by Mr. James Hoffpauir, Project Manager.
· Approved the advisement of acceptance of Alfred Palma, LLC as low bidder for Audrey Memorial Bus Garage for Cameron Parish School Board as presented by Mr. James Hoffpauir, Project Manager.

On the motion of Mrs. Trahan, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board approved the authorization for the Superintendent to advertise for new bids and accept low bids on currently advertised projects due to requisite number of advertising days and a need to move forward on projects as presented by the Superintendent.
On the draft motion of Mrs. Trahan, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board asked District Attorney Cecil Sanner to draft potential policies for consideration to allow for breath analyses of student at school events at some or all school sites with equipment to be provided by the Cameron Parish Sheriff’s Office and to be conducted by the Cameron Parish Sheriff Department or school administrators as presented by Mr. Nunez.
