Parish of Cameron

The Cameron Parish School Board met at its regular meeting on this date, members in attendance are: Loston McEvers, Dot Theriot, Marsha Trahan, Dwayne Sanner, Karen Nunez, Marvin Trahan, absent was: R. Scott Nunez.
The prayer and the pledge were led by Mrs. Dot Theriot and Mr. Loston McEvers.
On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board approved the board minutes of the regular meeting on February 8, 2010 as presented by the Superintendent.
On the motion of Mr. McEvers, seconded by Mrs. Trahan, the Board approved the following Financial Issues:
Authorized the payment of the bills.
Consider Financial Statement and Reports of Current Investments.
Receive monthly update on FEMA issues, with overall payments of $28,651,692.97 (Rita, Gustav and Ike payments) to date, per spread sheet, $4,319,873.85 in request for funds submitted to be paid as presented by the Superintendent and Mrs. Angie Styron.
On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mrs. Trahan, the Board received the report on 2010 Cameron Parish School Board District Science Fair presented by Mr. Gene Reynolds and Mrs. Martha Reynolds.
On the motion of Mr. McEvers, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board authorized to advertise for Alligator Egg Collection for a three year period.
On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board authorized District Attorney Cecil Sanner to issue verbal approval to Allen and Kirmse for specific preliminary work as he researches issues of exclusive use, damage to property and terms of lease to present to the Cameron Parish School Board, with his advice and recommendations, prior to the Cameron Parish School Board making a final decision on the right-of-way request from Allen and Kirmse across Section 16-15-14 in Johnson Bayou.
On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mr. McEvers, the Board approved current bid activities as presented by James Hoffpauir, Project Manager, Hoffpauir Architects, and LLC.

On the motion of Mrs. Trahan, seconded by Mr. Sanner, the Board authorized the approval of the Superintendent’s recommendations on the following firms to handle FEMA/CDBG projects noted:

On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mrs. Trahan, the Board authorized the Superintendent to advertise for new bids and accept low bids on currently advertised projects due to requisite number of advertising days and a need to move forward on projects as presented by the Superintendent.
On the motion of Mr. Sanner, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board approved the 2009 Legislative Update series of POLICY Alert to Cameron Parish School Board policies and/or board action, as presented by the Superintendent.

On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mr. Sanner, the Board approved the Personnel Report as presented by the Superintendent.
On the motion of Mr. McEvers, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board adjourned the regular school board meeting.
