Parish of Cameron

The Cameron Parish School Board met at its regular meeting on this date, members in attendance are: Loston McEvers, Dot Theriot, Marsha Trahan, Dwayne Sanner, Karen Nunez, Marvin Trahan and R. Scott Nunez.

 

The prayer and the pledge were led by Mrs. Dot Theriot and Mr. Dwayne Sanner.

 

            On the motion of Mr. McEvers, seconded by Mrs. Trahan, the Board approved the board minutes of the regular meeting on November 8, 2010, as presented by the Superintendent.

 

            On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board approved the following financial issues, as presented by Mrs. Smythe:

 

 

On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board received monthly update on FEMA issues, with overall payments of $38,417,357.67 (Rita, Gustav and Ike payments) to date, per spread sheet, $11,966,911.48 in request for funds submitted to be paid, as presented by Ms. Cisneros.

 

                        On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mr. Sanner, the Board received report on Ensuring Literacy for All Reading Intervention Program, as presented by Mrs. Nancy Boudreaux.

 

                        On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board approved the Cameron Parish School Board Meeting Dates set for the 2011 year, as presented by the Superintendent.

           

                        On the motion of Mr. McEvers, seconded by Mrs. Trahan, the Board approved current construction bid activities, as presented by James Hoffpauir, Project Manager.

 

A.  Projects to be bid, as presented by James Hoffpauir, Project Management.

 

 

B.   Approval of bid awards, as presented by Selena Cisneros, Project Management.

 

 

On the motion of Mrs. Trahan, seconded by Mr. Nunez, the Board approved authorizing the Superintendent to advertise for new bids and accept low bids on currently advertised projects due to requisite number of advertising days and a need to move forward on projects as presented by the Superintendent.

 

On the motion of Mr. Sanner, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board received updates on current FEMA, CDBG and General Fund Construction, Repairs, and Renovations to permanent and temporary sites' projects from Hoffpauir Architects, LLC, Cameron Parish School Board's Project Management Firm, as presented by James Hoffpauir, Architect, and Selena Cisneros, Engineer, Superintendent and Project Architects.

 

On the motion of Mr. McEvers, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board approved authorizing the Superintendent to enter into a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement on behalf of Cameron Parish School Board with the Louisiana Fur and Wildlife Festival for the use of the Central Administrative Office property (former site of Cameron Elementary School) in Cameron as the site of the 2011 Louisiana Fur and Wildlife Festival with the Cooperative Endeavor Agreement as drafted by District Attorney Cecil Sanner, as presented by the Superintendent.

           

                        On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Trahan, the Board received for review the following new policies and revisions to existing policies, per the 2010 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislatures and/or other updates:

 

 

On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board approved adding the following holidays to the calendar that were not used for evacuation purposes:

 

 

with the understanding that any emergency days would supercede the calendar, as presented by the Superintendent.

 

            On the motion of Mr. McEvers, seconded by Mr. Nunez, the Board approved contracting with Waste Management Corporation for waste collection at Cameron Parish School Board facilities, at a cost lower than current hourly rate, mileage, time away from campus for janitors and with a lesser liability exposure, as presented by theSuperintendent.

 

            On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board approved the Personnel Report, as presented by Superintendent.

 

                        On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mr. Nunez, the Board acknowledged the service of Mr. Loston McEvers and Mr. Marvin Trahan to the students of Cameron Parish, as presented by the Superintendent and Guests.

 

                        On the motion of Mr. McEvers, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board adjourned the regular school board meeting.
