Parish of Cameron

The Cameron Parish School Board met at its regular meeting on this date, members in attendance are: Marsha Trahan, Tracy Carter, Karen Nunez, James Boudreaux, R. Scott Nunez, Dwayne Sanner and Dorothy Theriot.
The prayer and the pledge were led by Mrs. Theriot and Mr. Sanner.
On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mr. Sanner, the Board approved the agenda.
On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mr. Sanner, the Board approved the minutes of the January 13, 2014, Cameron Parish School Board meetings, as presented by the Superintendent.
On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board received presentation of State Representative Gene Reynolds, House Education Committee, on legislative updates; and representatives of SOWELA Technical College, the Southwest Louisiana Economic Development Alliance, Cheniere Energy and Cameron LNG for the purpose of potential partnership, and potential 1.0 hour of Act 705 Professional Development credit on Career and Technical Education, as presented by Representative Reynolds, Mr. Richard Smith, Mr. David LaFargue, Mr. Richard Louviere, Mrs. Cindy McGee, Mr. Jonathan Trahan, Mr. Randy Oakley and Superintendent.
On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mr. Boudreaux, the Board tabled for an additional month the use of reserve and FEMA Contents funding to support career education coursework to prepare students for regionally available, high-paying careers in Cameron Parish and neighboring parishes/ counties, in alignment with the Louisiana Department of Education, the Southwest Louisiana Economic Development Alliance and local industries with courses to include online, hands-on, face to face and compressed video deliveries.

On the motion of Mrs.Theriot, seconded by Mr. Nunez, the Board received the monthly report on property income, as prepared by Mr. Lee Bloch, Bloch, Briggs and Associates, as presented by the Superintendent.
On the motion of Mr. Boudreaux, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board approved the following financial issues, as presented by Mrs. Michelle Trahan:
· Authorization of payment of the bills
· Report of Finance Committee
· Receipt of Financial Statement and Reports of Current Investments
· Receipt of Eagle Asset Management January Report and Fourth Quarter Investment Review
· Receipt of monthly report on FEMA Project Worksheets, as prepared by Hoffpauir Architects
· Consider approval of Cooperative Endeavor Agreement and Payment in Lieu of Tax Agreement for annual payment of $811,537.00 by Sabine Pass LNG-GP, LLC (Cheniere Energy)- Superintendent
On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board approved contracting with Pedersen & Pedersen Auctions, Inc. to conduct a multi-public and private entity auction on Saturday, March 29, 2014, for the purpose of selling surplus buses and other inventory/equipment, as presented by Mrs. Michelle Trahan and Superintendent.
On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Carter, the Board approved current construction bid activities, as presented by James Hoffpauir, Project Management:
A. Projects to be bid- James Hoffpauir, Project Management
· South Cameron High School Parking Lot- Bid date to be determined
B. Projects out for bid- James Hoffpauir, Project Management
· None at this time.
C. Quote out for response- James Hoffpauir, Project Management
· None at this time.
D. Approval of bid and quote awards- Architects and Project Management
· Approval of Gunter Construction, low bidder, as General Contractor for Johnson Bayou High School Track, Concession, Storage, Restrooms and Misc. Repairs- FEMA -Rita and to accept Alternate No.1, at a total cost of $1,111,200.

On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Carter, the Board approved
updates on current FEMA, CDBG and General Fund Construction, Repairs, and Renovations to permanent and temporary sites' projects from Hoffpauir Architects, LLC, Cameron Parish School Board's Project Management Firm, as presented by James Hoffpauir, Architect, and Selena Cisneros, Engineer.
On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mr. Boudreaux, the Board received the Louisiana Department of Education report that Cameron Parish is “Technology Ready” with 1:1 student to computer ratio, internet capacity and network capacity, as presented by Superintendent.
On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board approved out-of-state travel, as a result of Target Field Trip Grant competition, for Grand Lake High School fourth grade class to Shangri La Gardens and Nature Center in Orange, Texas on April 16, 2014; travel by school bus driven by certified driver, with teachers Daisha Evans, Katina Thibodeaux, Lindsey Fontenot and Frances Davis supervising the students, as presented by the Superintendent.
On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mr. Boudreaux, the Board adjourned the regular school board meeting.
