Parish of Cameron
December 10, 2007
The Cameron Parish School Board met at its regular meeting on this date, members in attendance are: Rachel Abadie, Scott Nunez, Loston McEvers, Dot Theriot, Dwayne Sanner, Patty Morris and absent was Marvin Trahan.
The prayer was led by Brett Richard and the pledge by Justin Trahan of the South Cameron High School 4-H Club.
On the motion of Mrs. Abadie, seconded by Mr. Sanner, the Board approved the agenda.
On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board approved the minutes as printed from the November 12, 2007 regular board meeting.
On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board received the Reports:
Recognition of Hackberry High School as Class C “Cross Country State Runner-Ups”
Recognition of Grand Lake High School Football Coach Danny Miller on his 800th career victory in basketball.
On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mr. Sanner, the Board received the report on “100 Years of 4-H” report from Cameron Parish LSU Ag Center presented by Mrs. Ruby Miller, and 4-H members: Justin Trahan, Brett Richard, Alan Myers, Devon Richard and Cody Jouett. An award was presented to Stephanie D. Rodrigue, Superintendent, commemorating her status in the orginal 100 inductees to the “4-H Hall of Fame”.
On the motion of Mrs. Morris, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board approved the resolution on acquisition of property at Johnson Bayou High School. (See attachment)
On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board approved the payment of bills and acceptance of the financial statement for December, 2007, as presented by Margaret Jones.
On the motion of Mr. Sanner, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board approved the adjustments to the Cameron Parish Substitute Pay Scale to reflect longer work days at 4-day schools, as presented by Mr. Sanner.
On the motion of Mr. Sanner, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board approved for advertising for bids (one bid with per site pricing) to remove all remaining debris (typically, concrete and/or asphalt, walkways, structural metal) at the former sites of Cameron Parish School Board Central Office, Cameron Elementary School, Audrey Memorial Bus Maintenance Facility, South Cameron Elementary School and Grand Chenier Warehouse as presented by the Superintendent.
On motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mr. Sanner, the Board approved advertising for bids (one bid with per site pricing) to clean ongoing debris and mow Cameron Parish School Board properties at the former sites of Cameron Parish School Board Central Office, Cameron Elementary School, Audrey Memorial Bus Maintenance Facility, South Cameron Elementary, and Grand Chenier Warehouse on a monthly basis, include time frames on the contract, as presented by Mrs. Theriot.
On the motion of Mrs. Abadie, seconded by Mr. Nunez, the Board received monthly updates on FEMA Issues, as presented by the Superintendent.

· Spreadsheet of NFIP Reductions (penalties for lack of flood insurance)
· February 1, 2008 – Advertise for contractor bids for South Cameron High School and Cameron Parish School Board office (with approval dates scheduled for February 25, 2008 special meeting)
· Project management funding and update
· Administrative funding
On the motion of Mr. Sanner, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board received a report on the average teacher salaries in Louisiana with Cameron Parish as twelfth of sixty-nine school districts, as presented by the Superintendent.
On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mr. Sanner, the Board approved the 2008 Cameron Parish School Board monthly meeting schedule, as presented by the Superintendent. (See Attachment)
On the motion of Mrs. Abadie, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board approved the following personnel report.

Advertise for 2 Business Managers, effective January 15, 2008
General Fund, as well as other responsibilities
Federal Funds including FEMA and other special projects, as well as other responsibilities (50% of salary to be paid with FEMA Admin Funds)
Advertise for 1 full-time clerical, effective January 15, 2008
Advertise for Construction Project Manager through Request for Qualifications Process (100% FEMA funded and in accordance with FEMA regs)
Eliminate part-time Federal Programs Bookkeeper position, effective April 1, 2008
On the motion of Mrs. Morris, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board approved entering into executive session for the following purposes:

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, the Cameron Parish School Board is committed to establishing and maintaining school settings most conducive to educating our students; and
WHEREAS, it is would be advantageous to acquire all available property adjacent to and currently utilized by Johnson Bayou High School; and
WHEREAS, the Cameron Parish School Board has funds designated to the purpose of improving school settings; and
WHEREAS, it is the expressed desire of Stream Properties to agree to negotiating a property sale price,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Cameron Parish School Board will continue to work toward the purchase of property in Johnson Bayou to best service the students and families of Johnson Bayou High School.
