Parish of Cameron
January 12, 2009
The Cameron Parish School Board met at its regular meeting on this date, members in attendance are: R. Scott Nunez, Loston McEvers, Dot Theriot, Marsha Trahan, Dwayne Sanner, Karen Nunez, and Marvin Trahan.
The prayer and the pledge were led by Mrs. Dot Theriot and Mr. Loston McEvers.
On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mrs. Trahan, the Board approved the agenda with addendum.
On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board received remarks from Brandy Jinks, a Johnson Bayou High School parent, thanking the Cameron Parish School Board for their efforts in opening the Johnson Bayou High School temporary site as presented by Mrs. Trahan.
On the motion of Mr. Trahan, seconded by Mr. McEvers, the Board approved the minutes as printed from the December 8, 2008 regular board meeting.
On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Trahan, the Board approved the acceptance of the Independent Auditor's Report as prepared by Kolder, champagne, Slaven and Company, LLC and presented by Rob Carter, Auditor.
On the motion of Mr. McEvers seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board approved the following Financial Issues:
Approved the Financial Statement and reports of Current Investments Mrs. Smythe
Authorized payment of the bills Ms. Smythe
Received monthly update on FEMA issues, with overall payments of $7,151,958.77 to date, per spread sheet, $4,088,534.24 in request for funds submitted to be paid Superintendent
Received advisement of Cameron Parish School Board qualification for a $5 million Community Disaster loan and approval of resolution pledging $5,000,000.00 in collateral, as well as responsibility for repayment as presented by Superintendent
Received advisement of Cameron Parish School Board qualification for a $5 million Community Disaster loan and approval of resolution pledging $5,000,000.00 in collateral, as well as responsibility for repayment as presented by Superintendent and Mrs. Smythe
Received 2008-2009 Annual Finance Risk Statement prepared by Louisiana Department of Education as presented by Superintendent
Received advisement that Jennifer Jones, Assistant District Attorney, is moving forward with a Compliant for Declaratory and Injunctive Relief in reference to DIFIRMs as presented by the Superintendent
On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mr. Nunez, the Board received an update on current FEMA and General Fund Construction, Repairs, and Renovations to permanent, and temporary sites' projects from Hoffpauir Architects, LLC, Cameron Parish School Board's Project Management Firm - James Hoffpauir, Architect and Selena Cisneros, Engineer, and the Superintendent.
On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board authorized the low bidding on current projects - James Hoffpauir, Project Manager

Re-advertisement playground repairs and equipment replacement at all four (4) schools (no bids received)
· Projects to be advertised in January 2009

c. Johnson Bayou High School Pavilion
On the motion of Mr. Trahan, seconded by Mr. Nunez, the Board authorized the Superintendent to accept low bids on currently advertised projects due to requisite number of advertising days and a need to move forward on projects - Superintendent
On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mr. Trahan, the Board approved authorizing District Attorney, Cecil Sanner to execute the deed for the Grand Lake land swap with the Cameron Parish Police Jury.
On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board authorized District Cecil Sanner, District Attorney to move forward on Section 16-12-10 (Black Lake-Hackberry), Lake Charles Harbor & Terminal District, Right of Way, and lay a temporary pipeline to bring dredge material from the Calcasieu River to the marsh creation site, September 30, 2009 or completion of the project whichever comes first with the stipulation that Cameron Parish School Board receive the same monetary result if any, of Gray Stream- Superintendent, District Attorney Cecil Sanner, and Mr. Dwayne Sanner
On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board approved the dates of 2009 Cameron Parish School Board meetings with meeting times set at 4:00 P.M. and with sites to be determined as Hurricanes Rita and Ike recovery continue as presented by the Superintendent.

On the motion of Mr. Trahan, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board approved the addition of a teacher/coach position at Grand Lake High School with coaching responsibility for junior high football and minimum of one (1) additional sport with position to be handled as a transfer if a current employee is interested, as are all other positions, then advertise, if necessary; and authorization of projected time frame to add Louisiana High School Athletic Association football at Grand Lake High School as follows:
2009-2010, 2010-2011: Junior High Football (non-LHSAA)
2011-2012, 2012-2013: Junior Varsity Football (LHSAA compliant; add second teacher/football coach, unless a current staff member is available)
2013-2014: Varsity Football (LHSAA compliant; assess Teacher/Coaching staff to determine further needs)
as presented by Superintendent, Mrs. Karen Nunez and Mr. Scott Nunez.
On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mr. Trahan, the Board approved the Personnel Report as presented by the Superintendent.
