Parish of Cameron

The Cameron Parish School Board met at its regular meeting on this date, members in attendance are: Tracy Carter, Dot Theriot, Marsha Trahan, Dwayne Sanner, Karen Nunez, James Boudreaux and R. Scott Nunez.

 

The prayer and the pledge were led by Mr. Sanner and Mrs. Nunez.

 

On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mr. Boudreaux, the Board approved the agenda, as presented by the Superintendent.

 

           On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Carter, the Board approved the board minutes of the regular meeting on January 10, 2011, as presented by the Superintendent.

 

                        On the motion of Mr. Sanner, seconded by Mr. Nunez, the Board accepted, on behalf of school libraries books written and illustrated by Cameron Parish student authors and artists through the “We Want to be Authors” literacy program owned and directed by Mrs. Dee Scallan, author of the “Crawfish Tales” series, and also accepted a set of the “Crawfish Tales” series for each of school library, as presented by Mrs. Nancy Claire Boudreaux, Mrs. Martha Reynolds and  Mrs. Dee Scallan.

 

            On the motion of Mr. Boudreaux, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board approved the following financial issues, as presented by Mrs. Smythe.

 

 

On the motion of Mr. Boudreaux, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board received monthly update on FEMA issues, with overall payments of $38,417,357.67 (Rita, Gustav and Ike payments) to date, per spread sheet, $11,966,911.48 in request for funds submitted to be paid, as presented by Ms. Cisneros.

 

On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board received documentation of Cooperative Endeavor Agreement and Payment in Lieu of Tax Agreement for annual payment of $811,537. by Sabine Pass LNG-GP, LLC (Cheniere Energy), as presented by the Superintendent.

 

On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Trahan, the Board approved ratifying and confirming final settlement of Workmen’s Compensation with former employee of Cameron Parish School Board, as presented by District Attorney Cecil Sanner.

 

On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board approved the request of Allen & Kirmse, Ltd., to assign and transfer oil, gas and mineral lease, Section 16, T15S-R15W from Armstrong, LLC, to Stone Energy, LLC, as presented by District Attorney Cecil Sanner and Mr. Charles Wilson.

 

On the motion of Mrs. Trahan, seconded by Mr. Sanner, the Board received for 30 day review revision to

 

to delete 8(g) funds as a separate line item and allow 8(g) equipment to be tracked as all other fixed assets, as presented by the Superintendent.

 

On the motion of Mr. Boudreaux, seconded by Mr. Sanner, the Board received confirmation of School Board Member Training Hours earned in 2010, per ACT 705, as presented by the Superintendent.

 

 

On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mr. Boudreaux, the Board approved requesting Hoffpauir Architects to work with current architects to compile new construction dimensions, functions and capacity at South Cameron High School for consideration as possible district-wide new construction standards, as presented by the Superintendent.

 

On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Trahan, the Board approved current construction bid activities, as presented by James Hoffpauir, Project Management.

 

 

Approval of bid awards, as presented by Selena Cisneros, Project Management.

 

 

On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Trahan, the Board approved authorizing the Superintendent to advertise for new bids and accept low bids on currently advertised projects due to requisite number of advertising days and a need to move forward on projects, as presented by the Superintendent.

 

On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Trahan, the Board received update on current FEMA, CDBG and General Fund Construction, Repairs, and Renovations to permanent and temporary sites' projects from Hoffpauir Architects, LLC, Cameron Parish School Board's Project Management Firm including a report by FEMA Public Assistance Task Leader, Mr. Alfred Malbrough on the forward-moving status of the Johnson Bayou rebuild project, as presented by James Hoffpauir, Architect, and Selena Cisneros, Engineer, Superintendent and Project Architects, Alfred Malbrough, FEMA Public Assistance Task Leader.

 

On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mr. Boudreaux, the Board approved granting permission to the Johnson Bayou Track Team to participate in the March 17, 2011 track meet at Sabine Pass High School, utilizing school buses and school personnel, as presented by the Superintendent.

                                               

            On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board approved the Personnel Report, as presented by Superintendent.

 

                        On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Carter, the Board adjourned the regular school board meeting.
