Parish of Cameron

The Cameron Parish School Board met at its regular meeting on this date, members in attendance are: Tracy Carter, Karen Nunez, James Boudreaux, R. Scott Nunez and Dwayne Sanner, Dorothy Theriot and Marsha Trahan.
The prayer and the pledge were led by Mr. Sanner and Mr. Nunez.
On the motion of Mrs. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board approved the agenda.
On the motion of Mr. Boudreaux, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board approved the board minutes of the regular meeting of March 11, 2013, as prepared by the Superintendent.
On the motion of Mr. Sanner, seconded by Mr. Boudreaux, the Board opened bids received for alligator eggs collection rights and selected highest responsible bidder, as presented by Mr. Lee Bloch.

On the motion of Mr. Boudreaux, seconded by Mr. Nunez, the Board approved the following financial issues:
· Payment of the bills, as prepared by Mrs. Trahan.
· Receipt of Financial Statement and Reports of Current Investments, as prepared by Mrs. Trahan.
· Receipt of monthly update on FEMA issues, with overall payments of
$ 59,967,881.73 (Rita, Gustav and Ike) to date, as prepared by Ms. Sylvia Cisneros.
· Advertising for bids for the items noted, as presented by Anna Murphy.
1. Copy Paper – 2013 – 2014 school year
2. Official Journal – 2013 – 2014 school year
3. Bread, Milk and Non Food (August 2013–May 2014) 2013-2014 school year
4. Janitorial Supplies – 2013-2014 school year
5. Paper Goods – 2013-2014 school year
On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board approved school calendars for 2013-14 school year, with the adjustment of ten full days for holiday Christmas break and as aligned with previous year’s calendars to include potential evacuation days that will be added back to the spring calendar, if not used, as presented by the Superintendent.
On the motion of Mr. Nunez, seconded by Mrs. Theriot, the Board approved teacher salary schedule to align with provisions of ACT 1 effectiveness, demand and experience provisions with all active teachers to be placed at current compensations in 2013-2014, as presented by the Superintendent.
On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mrs. Carter, the Board approved current construction bid activities, as presented by James Hoffpauir, Project Management:
A. Projects to be bid- James Hoffpauir, Project Management
· None at this time.
B. Projects out for bid- James Hoffpauir, Project Management
· South Cameron High School- Field House- FEMA Hurricane Rita Project- going out for bid April 28, 2013
· Auditorium Landscape Project- pending CDBG Project Application revisions
· Grand Lake High School Playground Revisions- pending CDBG Project Application revisions
C. Approval of bid and quote awards- Selena Cisneros, Project Management
· None at this time.
On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mrs. Carter, the Board approved authorizing the Superintendent to advertise for new bids and accept low bids on currently advertised projects due to requisite number of advertising days and a need to move forward on projects, as presented by the Superintendent.
On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mrs. Carter, the Board approved updates on current FEMA, CDBG and General Fund Construction, Repairs, and Renovations to permanent and temporary sites' projects from Hoffpauir Architects, LLC, Cameron Parish School Board's Project Management Firm, as presented by James Hoffpauir, Architect, and Selena Cisneros, Engineer, Superintendent and Project Architects.
On the motion of Mr. Sanner, seconded by Mrs. Nunez, the Board approved $500. per national student qualifier and sponsor, and out-of-state travel for the National FBLA Leadership Conference, scheduled for June 25-30, 2013 in Anaheim, California, as presented by the Superintendent.
· Hackberry High School: Business Students Samuel Ducote, Madison Shove and Blair Trahan, Sponsors/Chaperones Mrs. Stephanie East and Mrs. Kathy Helmer.
On the motion of Mrs. Theriot, seconded by Mrs. Carter, the Board adjourned the regular school board meeting.
