The Cameron Parish School Board met at its regular meeting on this date and meeting was called to order at 5:03 pm, members in attendance are: Marsha Trahan, Christi Labove, Rhonda Boudreaux, Sheila Miller, Sharon Picou and Joseph Delcambre.
Members absent: John Canik and Paula Smythe, District Attorney Jennifer Jones
The prayer and the pledge were led by Mrs. Trahan and Mrs. Labove.
On the motion of Mrs. Miller, seconded by Mrs. Picou, the Board approved the agenda.
On the motion of Mrs. Picou, seconded by Mrs. Miller, the Board approved the minutes of the March 14, 2016 regular meeting of the Cameron Parish School Board, as prepared by the Superintendent.
The Board received presentation of Quarterly Report from Center for Orthopaedics, as presented by Trainer Jason Rodriguez.
On the motion of Mrs. Picou, seconded by Mrs. Labove, the Board discussed the land issues and received the monthly property income report as prepared by Mr. Lee Bloch- Bloch, Briggs & Associates.
On the motion of Mrs. Trahan, seconded by Mrs. Miller, the Board approved the opening and awarding of a surface lease to Mr. Robert Trahan, sole bidder, for a twenty acre area within the Johnson Bayou section (Section 16-T 15S- R14W), as presented by Mr. Lee Bloch- Bloch, Briggs & Associates.

On the motion of Mrs. Boudreaux, seconded by Mrs. Picou, the Board approved the opening and awarding of alligator egg collection rights for the east side of the parish to Hunting Cajun Enterprises, sole bidder, as presented by Mr. Lee Bloch- Bloch, Briggs & Associates.

The Board received reports on the following financial issues, as presented by Mrs. Michelle Trahan:

The Board received monthly report on FEMA Project Worksheets, as prepared and presented by James Hoffpauir, Hoffpauir Architects.
The Board received reports on current construction bid activities, as presented by James Hoffpauir, Hoffpauir Project Management Team:
A. Projects to be bid- James Hoffpauir, Project Management
o South Cameron High School Parking Lot- FEMA PW4813- pending FEMA Obligation- no bid date set
o South Cameron High School Gym Ceiling- Rita Alt- FEMA- PW 4753- advertise for bids in April. Receive bids in May and issue notice to proceed in mid-June.
B. Projects out for bid/quotes- James Hoffpauir, Project Management
o Grand Lake Baseball Field and North Road Lighting- FEMA- Rita Alt.- PW 4753- advertise for bids March 17, 24 and 31. Receive bids April 14 at 3:00 pm.
C. Quote out for response- James Hoffpauir, Project Management
o None at this time.
D. Approval of bid and quote awards- Architects and Project Management
o None at this time.
On the motion of Mrs. Boudreaux, seconded by Mrs. Picou, the Board approved authorizing the Superintendent to advertise for new bids and accept low bids on currently advertised projects due to requisite number of advertising days and a need to move forward on projects, as presented by the Superintendent.
The Board received updates on current FEMA, CDBG and General Fund Construction, Repairs, and Renovations to permanent and temporary sites' projects from Hoffpauir Architects, LLC, Cameron Parish School Board's Project Management Firm, as presented by Hoffpauir Architects, LLC and Project Architects.
On the motion of Mrs. Miller, seconded by Mrs. Labove, the Board approved granting out-of-state travel to the South Cameron High School cheerleaders to attend Cheerleading Camp in Hot Springs, Arkansas from June 19-22, 2016. Transportation by school bus with certified driver, as presented by the Superintendent.
On the motion of Mrs. Trahan, seconded by Mrs. Boudreaux, the Board approved the annual continued employment resolution pursuant to ACT 745 of 1977 Louisiana Legislature providing that a support and substitute employee shall have the same probability for employment after the 2016 summer vacation period or another holiday, as the support and substitute employee had prior to the beginning of the vacation period, as presented by the Superintendent.
On the motion of Mrs. Picou, seconded by Mrs. Miller the Board approved contracting with Pedersen & Pedersen Auctions, Inc. to conduct a multi public and private entity auction on Saturday, April 29th and 30th, for the purpose of selling surplus equipment, as presented by the Superintendent.

Please accept this report regarding my efforts to meet the following Performance Objectives as outlined in Exhibit A of my employment contract:
1. Human Resource Management
a. Received letters of intent for employment of personnel for the 2016-2017 school year to begin making plans for staffing for 2016-2017 school year.
2. District Operations and Financial Management
a. Participated in Conference call with representatives from LDOE and district Finance Department to review school by school expenditures.
b. Met with representatives of Siemens to review possibility of entering into an energy management program for the parish.
3. Student Growth and Achievement
a. Met with representatives from Head Start to continue to investigate the possibility of having a Head Start class at South Cameron High School.
b. Attended Superintendent’s Advisory Council meeting in Baton Rouge.
c. Met with Curriculum and Instruction Committee as well as LDOE Representatives to review testing plans and plans for Professional Development for 2016-2017 School Year.
d. Attended second annual Cameron Parish Career Fair.
e. Attended AdvancED training in preparation for April 2017 Review Team visit.
f. Met with LASS representatives to review details of the reauthorization of NCLB (which is now ESSA)
4. Communication and Community Relations
a. Participated in Superintendent’s Conference call with LDOE Superintendent White.
b. Attended regional Superintendent’s Meeting with Chair of Louisiana House Education Committee.
c. Conducted Community Meetings to review information about the Ad Valorem Tax Renewal with Johnson Bayou and Grand Lake Communities.
d. Attended Community Action Committee meeting with Cameron LNG.
e. Attended Parish Track Meet at Johnson Bayou High School.
On the motion of Mrs. Miller, seconded by Mrs. Picou, the Board adjourned the regular school board meeting at 5:55 p.m.
