CLASS RANKINGS

 

 

In order to be uniform and consistent in determining class rankings of students in Cameron Parish, the following criteria shall be used for certifying the top five percent (5%) of each secondary school's graduating class:

 

A.

For quality point purposes, the following shall apply:

 

A = 4 points

B = 3 points

C = 2 points

D = 1 point

F = 0 point

 

B.

Physical education shall not be considered.

 

C.

The total quality points for final grades shall be determined using the point values in "A" above.  In instances where a half unit of credit is earned, the total points shall be determined for the half unit and divided by two (2).  The quotient shall be added to the total points for full units earned.  The point total (full unit point total plus one-half unit point total) is divided by the total full units and half units earned.

 

D.

When computing overall grade averages, the quotient shall be carried out a minimum of four (4) decimal places.

 

E.

Ties shall be broken by:

 

1.

The highest grade point average for the following required courses:

 

English:

I, II, III

Mathematics:

Algebra I, Algebra II, or Geometry

Social Studies

American History

Science:

Physical Science, Biology

       

2.

The highest composite ACT score.

 

3.

In no event shall the composite ACT score be used as the primary source to break a tie.
