Good morning Parents, It's Tuesday July 14th This is Charley Lemons, your Superintendent, coming back to you again for the second series of videos. First thing we want to do is talk about the virtual virtual learning experience that we are offering, that we talked about last week. Just to clarify the programs that we are going to use again K through 5 is designed by Edgenuity and 6 through 12 is designed by Plato. Those are the platforms that we will be using. Just to be clear, I want to make sure that we are perfectly clear, these programs are designed for students to complete the work on their own. No interaction teacher-at their own pace. A lot of parents have asked well does my child have to log on during school hours? No, the answer is no. Your child may choose to get on at 11 o'clock at night and maybe work till 5 in the morning if that's what they choose to do that's fine. Please understand this and I want the kids/students to understand this, the dashboard that we look that we view, we can tell exactly how long they spent on maybe an assignment, how long it took them to do an assignment, we can even go as far as to tell if a student logs on at 11 to work on a science just a science assignment it will tell us that they were on there for 54 minutes but 50 minutes they were idle they didn't do anything. Ok, so I want to make sure that we understand that that I don't want students to say to think if they can just get on this deal they can complete the lesson or quickly complete the lesson or just log on and it be it looks like its seat time. There's going to be requirements that are built in by that system that they have to do. Ok, so I want to be I want to be perfectly clear on that. We're in the process of finishing a contract. The purpose of the contract is this The purpose of the contract is to limit what the students can and can't do and also to set some regulations. The last thing that we want is the student teeter-tottering back and forth, we can't have students wanting to be virtual one week and face to face the next. Okay so when you commit to this virtual experience you're going to have to spend a certain amount of time there. Okay maybe maybe nine weeks maybe 18 weeks maybe the remainder of the semester. I'm not sure exactly where the wording to look like but you can't just in any given moment choose to to drop the virtual and go back to face to face. Ok and or vice versa. Okay so please understand that what we're asking is for you to strongly strongly consider whether or not this is what you want to do and maybe have a decision by the time school starts. This contract will probably be finished this week. Be available next week for you guys to start applying and filling out and then turn them into Mrs. Stephanie Rogers. So that we can begin making that list of students that are choosing  Virtual Route. Okay the other question that I had quite a bit as regarding eligibility of students with extracurricular activities. I'm talking about maybe 4-H or livestock showing and/or sports. Okay so the answer is this if your child enrolls in the Virtual Program and they are doing it on our platform not through the state, our platform Edgenuity or Plato, then the answer is yes they will be eligible to participate in extracurricular activities. Okay I just want to make sure that we are clear on that. If you choose the homeschool route, that's offered through the state department, the answer is NO. They will not be able to participate. Okay I just want to make sure that we're clear on that. So again thank you for your time, appreciate it have a good day
